A KD1.5 million contract was signed between the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and KISR to develop pilot applications to utilize solar energy to meet part of the clean electrical and thermal energy requirements at the facilities of some of KPC’s oil companies; thus, help reduce the dependence on traditional sources of energy.
At the contract signing ceremony, Dr. Al-Mutairi said that KISR and the KPC have had a strong association over the years which continues to date; especially towards the common goal of enhancing the infrastructure of science and technology in the country. He added that the project will be implemented by a team of nationals, including KISR staff that has many years of experience in this field. These efforts are in line with Kuwait’s objective of capacity building in the establishment of diverse energy sources, solar energy, in particular, and thus help preserve oil resources, and conserve the environment.
