A group of students from Al-Tahera Bint Al-Hareth Secondary School was received by Ms. Lina Talebi, a researcher at the Environmental Sciences Department (ENV), with the objective of spreading awareness on environmental problems and their solutions.
Ms. Talebi gave a lecture entitled “Environmental Problems … Effects and Solutions”, in which she shed light on environmental problems challenging the world in general, and Kuwait in particular. She also spoke about the types of pollution, and the global warming phenomenon and its relation with acid rain and desertification. The lecture contained many case studies and images of the negative effects resulting from environmental problems, including related health problems, and potential measures to prevent and tackle them.
Students were given the opportunity to tour the premises of the ENV, and become familiar with the equipment at the Environmental and Urban Development Division (EUD), which are used to collect and analyze samples from the environment.
