CORROSION RESEARCH SCIENTIST WITH A METALLURGY OR MATERIALS SCIENCE BACKGROUND Background: The successful candidate will become a member of the Corrosion Program at KISR. The program is aimed at improving the reliability of Kuwait’s oil production facilities and refinery equipment through assessing the integrity of equipment in terms of corrosion and adverse metallurgical effects, and finding the best mitigation approaches. Major duties: To supervise the establishment of a multiphase flow system; to conduct research using this system on oil well tubulars at high temperatures and pressures in the presence of CO2, H2S, and sand particles, and in the absence and presence of oil-field chemicals; and to carry out research on wet H2S cracking as well as on stress corrosion cracking. Qualifications: Applicants should have a PhD in corrosion with a background in metallurgy or materials science and proven R&D experience in the required type of work. Strong leadership, and the ability to attract research funding, assume project management duties and train staff are highly desirable. A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required. |
