MARINE ECOLOGY, BIOCHEMISTRY AND CLIMATE RESEARCHER Background: The successful candidate will become a member of the Ecosystem-Based Management of Marine Resources Program at KISR. The aim of this program is to ensure the sustainability marine resources through the development of ecosystem-based management. Major duties: To study the impact of changes in climate, and nutrient enrichment and eutrophication on marine ecosystems; and to take the initiative in applying for external research funding. Qualifications: Applicants should have a PhD in marine biogeochemistry, chemical oceanography, atmospheric or climate dynamics and its impact on the ocean, or a related field. Applicants should have published on climate research and have research experience in marine ecology and biogeochemistry with regard to nutrient-loading and climate change. Working knowledge of marine GIS and good knowledge of marine data management systems, as well as experience in marine meteorology is preferred. Applicants should have experience with data analysis and statistical tools , as well as common laboratory practices and analytical methods used in marine ecology and/or biogeochemistry. Applicants should have the ability to adapt research results to an applied context, as well as to communicate research results to both peers and the general public. Applicants should be responsible, dynamic, and able to work in an efficient, result-oriented manner both unassisted and with a team, as well as to take initiative in multidisciplinary collaborations. |
