Dr. Al-Mutairi said that the nursling from a new palm, to be used for the production process that takes place at KISR’s Tissue Culture Laboratory, has been named “Heifi Kuwait” by its owner . Dr. Al-Mutairi indicated that KISR will soon announce a competition to select new types of palms, which will be open to individuals as well as institutions. He added that the submitted nurslings should be from excellent new species from Kuwait, not affected by diseases, and of excellent fruits.
Mr. Al-Heifi commended KISR’s encouragement of initiatives, and its advanced technology, especially that of the Tissue Culture Laboratory. He said that KISR’s role in this respect would help increase agricultural lands, contribute to the food security, and improve the environment.
