For the past years, Japan Cooperation Center, Petroleum (JCCP), 1992-2000 as Petroleum Energy Center, PEC)) has been organizing annual symposia to promote the preservation of the Environment.

These symposia have been held in the GCC countries as well as in Japan, and have attracted considerable interests from the scientists and professionals in those countries. In bringing them together, the symposia have provided fora for exchanging views and information on multitudes of issues ranging from water purification, usage and water management and desert greening to climate change and CDM Project.

Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) has in the past organized a number ofconferences and symposia related to environment issues. After a serious consideration that KISR is an organization of high reputation and successful achievement, JCCP has proposed to hold the Environment Symposium in collaboration with KISR in 2009 in Kuwait.

This Symposium will be the 4th time to hold with KISR in Kuwait

The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) was established in February 1967 by the Arabian Oil Company Limited (Japan) in fulfillment of its obligation under the Oil Concession Agreement signed by the Kuwait Government and the Japanese Company. KISR main objectives to carryout applied scientific research, especially related to industry, energy, agriculture and the national economy, to contribute to the economic and social development of The State and to advice the Government on the Country’s scientific research policy.

Japan Cooperation Center, Petroleum (JCCP)

Japan Cooperation Center, Petroleum (JCCP) was founded in 1981 under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and with support from Japanese oil and engineering industries. Its purpose is to work for mutual understanding between Japan and oil-producing countries, to build relations of trust and friendship with those countries and to strengthen cooperative relationship among them. Oil-producing countries have needs in refining, marketing, other technology and human resource development. JCCP activity includes program to accept downstream sectors of the oil industry, which JCCP helps to satisfy through cooperation on overseas trainees and technical cooperation projects, etc.

Objectives:

The objectives of this Symposium are as follows:

 To bring together scientists and professionals from GCC countries and Japan to communicate and exchange knowledge, views and opinions on environmental issues.

To provide participants with better understanding of the improvement and rehabilitation of the environment through utilization and application of in novative technologies.

English. Presentation shall be made in English. Papers should be in English with an arabic or English abstract.
