Developing an Inherently Conductive Polymer for Corrosion Protection
Innovative approach to enhance corrosion resistance
This project was initiated to investigate the possibility of synthesizing conductive polymer (polypyrrole) for corrosion protection applications. Polypyrrole (PPy) was successfully synthesized by a chemical oxidative polymerization technique using monomer pyrrole and different oxidants, such as ferric chloride and ammonium persulphate. Thermal, conductivity, chemical, morphological, and corrosion resisting properties were investigated and reported. The project successfully explored the performance of PPy as a coating material for corrosion resistance applications.
