Assessing the Effect of Magnetic Treatment on Scaling Deposition Retardation
Innovative methods to reduce pipe scaling
The formation of scale inside of water pipes is often a significant problem because it can drastically reduce the efficiency and productivity of a water piping system. If scale deposition is not addressed properly, it can result in a failed water system and be expensive to fix or replace. In Kuwait, the presence of scale deposition is a problem for the oil industry, its water distribution system, and its desalination industry. Understanding how this challenge has the potential to significantly interrupt the productivity of Kuwait’s various piping systems, the IDT Program initiated a project to test an innovative method for reducing the presence of scale in water pipes. The program tested the effectiveness of the magnetic treatment method’s (MTM) ability to reduce and delay the presence of various different kinds of scale in water pipes. The study revealed that the method could be effective at scale control depending on the type of scale, the intensity of the magnetic power used, and the condition of the water.
