Recovery of Metals and Alumina from Spent Hydroprocessing Catalysts

Recycling spent industrial catalysts

This project resulted in the creation of two innovative processes for the recycling and utilization of spent hydroprocessing catalysts. The first process successfully recovered valuable metals such as molybdenum, vanadium, and nickel by ultrasonic-assisted leaching with EDTA. The second process successfully recovered special grades of alumina such as boehmite and γ-alumina with controlled pore size from the spent catalyst.
